Dear Mr. King,
Read your book twice and came away with the same impression both times. You had me hook, line and sinker until the Individual Empowerment System discussion. You could of went to the end of this last iteration by taking a step back before the decline of our society with the adoption of the Social Security System. This began the endless string of entitlement programs. The IES would be rendered into just another government program to be abused and levered as a campaign tool just like Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, unemployment and Welfare. In Texas years ago, the state moved from a paper to an electronic food stamp system. The cost of the system was reduced by one third over night due to fraud reduction. Our government has a clear record of mismanagement of any social program.
Great idea to keep it simple. I have always believed the only reason for government is to defend the Constitution. Now, I have adopted your thinking and believe the only reason for government is to empower the people. You must have skin in the game to conduct yourself for the greatest good! As an example you will move much more deliberate when something important is at stake. It is too easy to depend on some government program to bail you out. Nowhere in the Constitution is Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, unemployment and Welfare addressed and with good reason.
At 57, I would sell my stake in Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, unemployment, Welfare and any other government social program for pennies on the dollar with the agreement to never be tormented by them again!
I certainly look forward to your next book. Very enlightening!
